We can’t believe that 2018 is already coming to a close! It has been such an exciting year for our company, we wanted to look back and see everything that we have accomplished. None of it would have been possible if it wasn’t for our incredible employees and clients though, we really owe them everything.
Awards
Our Austin office was named one of the TOP TEN Temporary Staffing Firms by the Austin Business Journal! This was such an incredible achievement really showing the amazing growth that our Austin location as gone through. The 2018 list highlights firms in the Austin area that offer temporary staffing services and supply traditional clerical and administrative help, as well as offers staff augmentation for industrial, multifamily, construction, health care specialists, security officers and technology.
The Houston branch received the honor of being one of the Best Places to Work by the Houston Business Journal! Our team had a great time at their luncheon whiched honored the nominees and winners!
Most recently, our company won an HR Excellence Award (sponsored by the Coastal Bend SHRM) for our Achievement in Workplace Health & Wellness! This is primarily due to our health initiative with Humana (called Go365) which is a wellness and rewards program for our company. This program is in place to ensure that employees are happier, healthier and more productive.
Publications
Earlier this year, our Founder/CEO, Linda Jordan and our President, Leslie Jordan were chosen to be on the cover of Inspire Coastal Bend Magazine! There was an amazing article also written about them that shows our company’s origin story and how Linda came into the business 28 years ago. It also goes into how Leslie became interested in her mother’s business and how they became the dynamic duo that they are today!
Give Back Program – Jeans for Means
Jeans for Means is our employee driven give back program where employees opt in to wear jeans every Friday to work and in turn they donate $5. We choose a local community organization every six months and donate the proceeds to them as a way for us to improve our communities and give back to the areas that have given so much to us already. This year we donated over $10,000 to two very special nonprofits: Austin Recovery, Inc. and Soldiers’ Angels.
Austin Recovery, Inc. helps women that have been put in less than desirable life situations get back on their feet. They especially focus and cater to young mothers getting the help that they need. Being a women owned and operated company, we thought that this was a great fit for our donation funds.
Soldiers’ Angels is a nonprofit in San Antonio that has several programs that support military families, deployed service members, wounded service members and veterans. From care packages to VA hospital support, this organization offers so many different types of incredible support and we were honored to be able to help them.
Employee of the Year
For the first time ever we chose an employee from each branch to be our Employee of the Year! These people were selected because they do exemplary work, have outstanding attitudes and really just go above and beyond what is asked of them. Of the four that won, we then chose the winner out of them and they were our L.K. Jordan Employee of the Year! We love this idea put forth by the American Staffing Association and can’t wait to do it again next year!
Employee Retreat
In May we had our incredible employee retreat at Hyatt Regency Lost Pines Resort & Spa! Everyone had such a great time getting away from the cities and bonding with their coworkers, some that they have known for awhile and some from other branches that they were just meeting. We played yard games, roasted s’mores and ate dinner outside under a canopy of trees, it really was a fantastic time and we look forward to our next one in 2020 where we will celebrate the company’s 30th year anniversary!
Looking back it really has been an amazing year for us at L.K. Jordan & Associates. We can’t help but be forever grateful to our employees for entrusting us to find and place them into their dream jobs as well as our clients for letting us help them get the help they need. We wouldn’t be where we are today with you all – here’s to hoping 2019 is just as incredible!
